THIS IS ME

My name is Lillyanne McCool. I'm a bluegrasss/oldtime musician, singer, and songwriter from Mountain View Arkansas. Raised in a musically inclined family and community, I was surrounded by music from the very beginning. There was never a doubt that I would become a musician, it was only a question of when.
My banjo career began in a school program called Music Roots that provides students from 4th grade to 8th with free lessons with the American folk instrument of their choice. I have had many teachers over the years, each with a unique style that has contributed to my own.

Although the first style of banjo I played was oldtime, my overall approach to music is not solely influenced by one genre. The music I produce is rarely a purebred of either bluegrass or oldtime. A blend of two is seen as distasteful to some, but it is possible for the two to exist with each other in harmony (literally and metaphorically).
